We are excited to introduce the short intensive program, Japanese Language and Cultural Immersion Program: Advanced (J-CIP: A), a 6-week program starting in early January 2026.

This unique program combines Japanese language learning with academic study of the unique circumstances, current issues, and cultural assets of rural Japanese society. Participants will deepen their knowledge through classroom learning and then engage directly with their subject matter through research visits.

It is an excellent opportunity for students with intermediate-advanced Japanese language proficiency to further develop their Japanese proficiency while experiencing meaningful interaction with the local community in Akita.

This program offers 6 credits in 6 weeks, conducted entirely in Japanese. The coursework will progress at a fast pace, so it has a strict attendance policy. The workload is heavier than in a regular semester, and students are required to participate fully in all classes and activities, including field trips.
